Hong Kong International Airport en route to SE Asia

I am sitting inside Thai Airways' Royal Orchid Lounge at HKG waiting for my connecting flight. It is the first time I am back to HK since around 1987. I am just passing thru this time, but hopefully I will come back for a real visit in the near future.

Looking outside, I can see high peaks against the sunset clouds. Is it Tai Mo Shan that I climbed many years ago? And, where is HK Island itself? I feel like a total stranger even tho this is my birth-place.

So close, and yet so far !!!

K 是初次來港嗎?

We are staying in Bangkok for only 48 hours, after which we will visit Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia.

K has been to HK many times. Sometimes, she would stay there for a few days, other times she would just be en route to meetings/conferences in other Asian countries.

Don't miss the sunset at Tonle Sap when you go to Siam Reap. Have a nice trip! :)

Compared to Thailand, Laos has a long way to go !! I will find out abt Vietnam and Cambodia in the coming weeks.

This is our vacation trip to make up for the Xmas and New Year holidays that we missed because of my Mom's accident.

Yes, I would love to spend time visiting HK some day. I just cannot imagine how I would feel seeing all the changes.

We didn't see the sunset at Tonie Sap but rather at Phu Si Hill in Luang Prabang, Laos. I will post some pics upon my return home.
