Gordon Lightfoot, singer and song writer, performed in front of a sold-out crowd last weekend at the National Arts Centre. The song "Early Morning Rain" I am posting here was written in 1964. This beautiful song was subsequently recorded by Bob Dylan, Ian and Sylvia Tyson, Peter Paul and Mary, Judy Collins, Elvis Presley, Gerry Reed, Gerry-Lee Lewis, etc.

Other musicians who recorded Lightfoot's music included Barbara Joan Streisand, Don McLean, Anne Murray, Olivia Newton-John, Sarah McLachlan, The Guess Who, The Irish Rovers, Glen Campbell, Johnny Cash, etc

At age 70, he is still going strong and has already performed 26 times this year. I really enjoyed his show on the weekend. What a Canadian icon!!!
