With all the talks on ultra-running, I have been thinking abt a 50 km trail in the Gatineau Park.
It is possible to establish a 50 km hilly route by combining
(a) the 42 km running route I soloed on Nov 15, 2011; and,
(b) the 8 km snowshoeing route I did on Mar 4, 2012
These two routes intersect each other and we can have water/supply stations in two parking lots (P8 and P13)!!!

Below is some info from my Mar 4, 2012 blog article: Snowshoeing 8 km on Des Loups / Wolf Trail in Gatineau Park http://lotusandcedar.blogspot.com/2012/03/mar-4-2012-running-19-km-in-ottawa.html
In the afternoon, I went with a friend to snowshoe on the Wolf / des Loups Trail in the Gatineau Park. From the Blanchet parking lot P13 at the west end of Meech Lake, we climbed abt 200 metres up & did the 8 km loop in approx 2 hours (actual running/walking time was 1h20). The snow condition was excellent
