2011 Academy Award - Best Picture

My favourites are: The King's Speech, The Black Swan, The Social Network and Winter's Bone (in that order).

And the Oscar goes to .... The King's Speech!!!

我完全唔知有套咁嘅king's speech,
其實都唔係淡化唔淡化問題,
香港人根本唔多喜歡睇劇情片,
仲要係講第二次大戰時期嘅,
想人入場都難囉!

好睇唔代表啱市場嘛,
仲要睇吓唔同嘅market呢!
我買咗早幾年嘅"英女皇"影碟,
到依家都仲未有心機掉開睇呀,
咪又係哩個原因囉!

You might have misunderstood me. I will use another example. There is a difference btwn:
(a) learning abt the slave trade; and;
(b) learning how to trade slaves.

But hold on, you did raise a good point:

Why do the real estate tycoons still have so much political and economic power over the ppl of HK in the post colonial era?

You are a smart man and nothing escapes you. Yes, indeed: Learning how to govern (and be governed) within the context of an ex-British colony!!!

Part of the reasons for a 50 yr transition period is for the governer and the governed to learn / unlearn from the colonial history and experience.

I would submit that someone must have learnt that the tycoons had played an important role in the governance structure of the previous colonial society and that their political and economic power should be retained, despite the fact that fewer ppl can afford to own real-property and a significant amt of a family's income is going towards rent !!!

I guess subconsciously 兄台就是唔想提起 british colonization 香港這段歷史潛意識自我要求淡化淡化在淡化！
