Race is going to start in an hour and a half. The temp is a cool 4 deg outside and the sun might even come out from behind those clouds!!! I am wearing a long sleeve polypropylene shirt and a pair of short pants. That should keep me warm and dry. I forgot to replenish my supply of energy gel since the Army Race half-marathon in September. Hopefully, the three remaining packs plus the Gatorade/water from stations along the way will prevent me from "hitting the wall".

p.s. Happy Thanksgiving
Xiao Zhu:
Best Actor: It was only minus 2 deg C at the start and there was a blistering wind thru out. But I had fun and finished the half-marathon in good time, within my expectatoin.
Thanks!!
:)
Space: Hahahahaha !!! Thanks a lot :)
But I had fun and finished the half-marathon in good time, within my expectatoin.”

Space
Space:
Thank you for the info abt joining the marathon race in HK. One of these days, one of these days ...
As to the question re completing a half-marathon in "good" time:
Obviously, "good" is all relative. This year, the time varies from 1 h 18 min for the number one guy to 4 h 05 min for the last person !!!
Also, age is a factor. For example: I would say 4 h 05 min will be considered "very good" for someone 75+ years old !!!
xiao zhu:
Yes, I agree. He was good !!!
Oh! “For example: I would say 4 h 05 min will be considered "very good" for someone 75+ years old !!!”
I wished to take the lazy way so I employed the mathematical method of "proportion" "prorate" or "pro rata". But I didnt know the age of the champion. So it was not working.
Space:
I think the age-time relation is non-linear. So, even if you know the first and last data pair (A1,T1) and (An,Tn), you still will not be able to prorate time Ti at age Ai.
Perhaps if you collect enough data at a large race event, such as those held in Europe where the number of participants is > 30 000, you may be able to draw a graph and predict the average time of a particular cluster (age group). But even then, there are guys like Lance Armstrong who has aged, but at 38, still has the performance of someone 15-20 years younger.
Ref: Wikipedia
Lance Armstrong / Physical attributes:
Armstrong has recorded an aerobic capacity of 83.8 mL/kg/min (VO2 Max), higher than the average person (40-50), but lower than other Tour De France winners, Miguel Indurain (88.0, although reports exist that Indurain tested at 92-94) and Greg LeMond (92.5). He has a resting heart rate of 32-34 beats per minute (bpm) with a maximum heart rate of 201 bpm.
Oh I have already thought about that thoroughly Hari big brother.
The X-axis be the age and the Y-axis be the time. The curve should somewhat resemble a V or a U,the very bottom point should be the age and his/her recoreded time of the champion. By the sum of least squares I believe a curve can be plotted with good approximation.
What you said above proved to be consistent with my assumption and theory. ^_*

We are consistently being highly technical and analytical while other readers are consistently scratching their heads !!
So what's your question again?
