加拿大的秋天來了 ∕ Here comes the Canadian Autumn

How I wish the warm weather would last longer here in Canada. I was hiking this afternoon in the Gatineau Park and Lord and Behold, I saw the first red maple leaf waving at me under the Labour Day sun. It is a sure sign of autumn and, barring an Indian summer, the days are going to get shorter and cooler. Already, the temperature at night has dipped into the teens and before you know it, the stores are going to haul out their winter coats and boots and put a Christmas Sale sign up !! As a skier, I don't mind the cold or the snow. It's just that we had a rather cool spring and a wet summer and I miss spending more time sunning on the beaches and swimming in the lakes. Oh well, it's time to start training for the ski marathon !!!

before school restarts for the kids!

紅葉舞秋風,
訓練馬拉松,
忘了夏日泳,
積穀好過冬!

Inner Space: You are right. The first week of September is always the busiest time for people with kids who are attending schools, colleges, and/or universities. The stores are often filled with last-minute shoppers looking for laptops, pens, notebooks, locks, and other items so the kids are ready to go back to school. Often, people will try not to have out-of-town business meetings if they can help it.

哈哈!! 您心水清,又說中了,我真的是正在訓練馬拉松賽跑。

Xiao Zhu: There are cross-country ski marathons held all over the world during winter. The one that I have done twice is a race against time (as opposed to each other). A skier must cover 160 Km during the two days (i.e. 80 Km per day). The race starts at 7 am and a skier must enter the last check point by around 3 am.

ps: Please note cross-country skiing 越野滑雪 is not the same as alpine/downhill skiing.

啤酒花™_J: Generally speaking, there is nothing wrong with gloomy feeling!!! Variety is the spice of life. Just don't dwell on misery to the extent that it starts affect your physical and mental health. It's all a matter of credit-debit balance of your health account in the short and long term.
