塞翁之馬 / Life is Full of Surprises

>> ... 塞翁之馬,誰曉得何為得何為失?

It is SO TRUE!!!
If my father had allowed me to study in Hawaii, I would have spent all my time watching girls on the beach and flunked out of university, which would have upset my parents and myself.
Now I am freezing my butt off in Canada, but am very happy (so was my father, bless his soul)!!!
^_^

The above comments was posted at Michelle's blog article "Letter to Myself" http://petiteinote.blogspot.com/2009/11/26.html

Yes, life is full of surprises; you never know what will happen.
So, even in the darkest moment, when you think it's the end of the world ...
Keep your head up!!
Be strong and go on!!!
Now I save my money and travel the world, and Hawaii is not even on the top of my list :)

環境會影響思想,
但係都要個人識諗,
否則在那裏都可能胡作非為,
自小的培養和教育真的很重要!

So share with us, where are you planning to go?
Hawaii is over-rated, don't bother.

Travel around the world is nice but I always worry about the "now what" afterwards. It's better to have something to look forward to. I still believe it doesn't matter where you go, it's who you go with. I always admire people who can just drop out of the rat race, buy a boat/RV and hit the road. I have the wildest fantasy of where I want to travel but I am all about comfort, so that leave me few choices.

Sometimes I dream about doing back-to-back cruises, just allow myself to be the wanderlust that I always want to be (but with the comfort that I need). A travel agent friend told me that there are always a few back-to-back senior clients on each cruiseship. Imagine that. It beats checking into any nursing home or assisted-living places, huh? d

Michelle: Yes, I love nature and enjoy learning abt different peoples and culture. One of these days, I would like to take a long vacation in France. Art museums and side-walk cafés in Paris sound good !!

新鮮人: In the context of nature vs nuture, I agree that the ppl an individual hangs out with (or rather CHOOSE to hang out with) will indeed have an influence on his/her thinking and subsequently on values of right and wrong. The question is whether some individuals have predispositions for certain “bad” behaviours.

Exile: No, I don't have any plan for Hawaii.

For me, there is no problem with "now what" cuz my list of places to visit before kicking the can is long.

I enjoy both travelling alone and with friends. When vacationing with others, I find it important that there are shared common interests.

Travelling in one's own boat or a RV is good as along as the traveller is prepared to mitigate the risks of encountering violence on the road or in the high sea. Generally speaking, most of North America is safe to travel relative to say the Middle East.

Exile: Haha !! Those back-to-back seniors must be super rich !!! Just imagine how much a 65+ years old (general age-definition of seniors in Canada) will have to pay for travel health insurance !!!
