Ottawa's Queensway Highway 417

I took these pics of the Queensway looking east (top) and west (bottom) from an over-pass in the west end of Ottawa.

I was enjoying the evening clouds and wondered how many ppl would actually stop and look at a sunset these days.

Cars and trucks were zooming by under my feet at over 100 km per hour.

Why is life always such a big rush ??!!

The Hwy 401 was named Hwy of Heros when the killed canadian soldiers were shipped back from foreign battle zone, they were loaded onto limousines individually transferring from air base Trenton near Kingston back to Toronto before shipping back to their hometown being escorted by Ontario Provincial police。

I once had a chance seeing people along Hwy came out with canadian maple leaf flag waiting on the crossover of local side roads awaiting for their fellow countrymen last journey home!

Thanks for the link to the August 24, 2007 CTV article. Since then, there have been many Canadian soldiers who died while doing their tour duties overseas. For those who work 9 to 5 in an office, it’s hard to imagine what it must be like to put one’s life on the firing line !!

well HBB only the fallen ones had this honour on Hwy of Heroes the injured servicemen and servicewomen no matter how severe or serious, they just came back silently.

The politicians do not want the citizens seeing the messy bloody scenes!

I see many disabled soldiers participating in Ottawa's Army Runs and ppl always cheers for them !!

However, I agree with you the Department of Veterans Affairs (which reports to the Minister of VA) could have done a better job to support the vets !!
